#VanLife vs #RealLife: Chrysler Shows the Difference

The #VanLife duel is about to start. Cue the Western Showdown music. Watch the tumbleweed as it drifts across the screen. Chrysler has started a comical banter with its #VanLife vs #RealLife campaign. #VanLife has turned into a trend of influencers and adventures showing how they have upcycled an old cargo van or even old school buses into drivable houses. As much as some of us may dream about dropping everything and joining the trend of creating our own home on wheels, it’s not always a feasible option. We at Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman, Oklahoma wanted to share the videos and bring up our favorite points as to why Chrysler Pacifica drivers own both the #VanLife and #RealLife social tags. 

Chrysler vans are as functional as they are creative in their design. Chrysler created a big van without adding unnecessary bulk that would make its maneuvering tedious. 

Now, we’re not against the #VanLife, but we do think it is obvious that #VanLife isn’t for everyone. Even with Chrysler’s almost caricature viewing of those who decide to live out of a van, #VanLife influencers have removed themselves from the typical lifestyle. We’ll use the videos to further showcase the behind-the-scenes struggles of being a #VanLife influencer. For one, each owner of the suped-up cargo van is composed of, presumably, a couple with no kids. That’s fine, there doesn’t seem to be much room for more than two people in the vans either way. 

The Beach episode brings up the fact that the #VanLife couple custom-built their van, a pleasing and satisfying endeavor, sure, but also a time-consuming one. The farmer’s market #VanLife couple reattached solar panels to their roof when stopped. The Duel couple’s TV detaches and falls when the van isn’t even in motion. But if you have children, like each Chrysler Pacifica owner in the videos, social media #VanLife isn’t realistic.
