The Future is Bright(er) at the 2023 Easter Jeep Safari

It’s another off-road reunion! The annual Jeep Safari took place April 1-9 in Moab, Utah, and each year the showcase is full of fun surprises. With seven diverse concepts, it’s hard to choose a favorite. From brighter hues to amped-up horsepower and even an updated classic, there is truly something for every Jeep enthusiast. Hey, that’s definitely us. 

Wrangler Rubicon 4xe

Is it purple? Is it pink? You decide. Because it’s the summer of Barbie (the movie hits in July), we predict this vibrant new magenta exterior coat will be the newest go-to for staying on trend, considering the hot pink Tuscadero from a couple of years ago is now no longer. It’s the most stylish option for Jeep Wrangler lovers this year while remaining rugged and maintaining its tough exterior features. That’s because it features 37-inch tires mounted on 17-inch wheels from American Expedition Vehicles, along with the new striking seven-slot grille. You’re in good hands with a Warn Zeon winch, so you’ll be able to turn heads while keeping safe at the same time. What’s not to love about that?

More Cool Concepts

Another true standout this year is the update of the 1978 Cherokee as a 4xe, surprisingly a plug-in hybrid. Ok, talk about updates. It’s the vintage version, albeit with a modified body, inserting an interior retrofit that mirrors the modern-day Wrangler. The mix of old and new is genius. It’s hard not to gravitate toward the 70s vibe of the exterior’s retro paint job. Plus, 17-inch slot mag wheels make it the epitome of an era gone by. We honestly wouldn’t mind reliving that time period atop these 37-inch tires and driving to the beat of today’s Jeep’s 4xe powertrain, which is two electric motors with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

And this was the final year to feature the Magneto 3.0, the all-electric Jeep. The biggest change here is the power, of course, increasing peak output from 625 to 650 horsepower and a rise in torque from 850 to 900 pound feet.

Another bright-hued beauty, the Scrambler 392 has a super-unique feature of the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 actually visible beneath the clear panel on the hood. The Grand Wagoneer Overland includes a massive rooftop tent that can be assembled in seconds by hand, is climate controlled and sleeps two people. Impressive feature! Of course, the Gladiator Rubicon Sideburn takes on Jeep’s version of the pickup truck with a tubular grille guard that folds down to become a bench. And the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Departure has the same, with the new roomier feature of a reversible rear-mounted tire carrier to free up cargo space.
