The Story Behind the Jeep Ducks

July 10th, 2023 by

Hey, Jeep fans! Ever wondered about the story behind the Jeep ducks? These iconic miniature bath toys have become a popular accessory for Jeep Wrangler owners. The art of placing a duck on another Jeep owner’s vehicle has become known as “Jeep Ducking” or “Duck Duck Jeep” when a note is placed along with it. When someone buys a Jeep, they aren’t just buying a new vehicle, they’re tapping into an entire community. It’s no doubt these little ducks not only add a touch of personality to Jeeps but are a way for Jeep drivers to put a smile on each other’s faces.

How it Started

It was 2020 in a small-town gas station parking lot in Ontario, Canada. Jeep Ducking all began when a woman named Allison Parliament, from a small town in the Canadian province of Ontario, unknowingly started a kindness movement when she placed a rubber ducky on a fellow Jeep after a spat with someone earlier. The duck craze has now swept throughout the Jeep enthusiast community in the United States as well as in nearly a dozen other countries around the world.

Even More Traditions: The Wave

Heard of the Jeep Wave? It’s yet another fun tradition of the Jeep community. It comes in several forms, including an energetic side-to-side motion of one or both hands, a raised hand waving or two or four fingers being lifted behind the steering wheel. And what’s just as cool is Landers offers a “Jeep Wave” membership program with 24/7 exclusive Jeep owner support. You’ll automatically be enrolled in a 24-month  membership when you purchase or lease an eligible Jeep vehicle from Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Norman, Oklahoma.
