There is no substitute for the ultimate summer Jeep, the Wrangler. The Wrangler offers an unmatched driving experience. The Wrangler allows you to take off the roof, remove the doors, and fold down the windshield so you get as much fresh air as possible.

If you have a soft-top Jeep Wrangler, taking the roof off is simple and quick! On the 2018+ JL models, you just slide out the three rear windows, unclip the two latches underneath both front visors and throw the top back. There is one additional level in the back that allows you to fold the entire top back and let it sit behind the spare tire. Lock the top into place and you are ready to go!

If you have a hardtop, you can twist the levers on the two panels above the driver and front passenger and have a t-top sunroof experience. If you want to take the whole top off, there are eight bolts to undo and one electrical connection for the rear wiper and defroster. You’ll need some assistance lifting the top off and storing somewhere safe but it really isn’t too heavy.

The easiest top to remove is the Sky One-Touch power retractable top. All you have to do is push one button and the cloth portion opens all the way back. You can remove the two rear quarter windows to get maximum airflow through the cabin.

The doors are easy to take off as well. There are two bolts on each door you must first remove. There is a supplied tool in the Jeep tool kit that comes with your new Jeep. Next, lower the windows, undo the electrical connection, if you have a 2018+ JL model, the door catch will need to be unscrewed, then you just lift the doors to remove!

The Gladiator offers a similar experience to the Wrangler. The Gladiator also has a soft top and hardtop removal option. The Gladiator’s doors can be removed with the same steps as the Wrangler and you can even fold the windshield down.

Other Jeep models offer dual-pane panoramic sunroof options to get lots of light into the cabin but the 2020 Jeep Renegade is available with a My Sky Removable Sunroof. The sunroof operates just as a normal electric sunroof would but gives you the flexibility to remove both panels altogether so you can live that open-air life. These panels can be easily removed and stored flat in the height-adjustable cargo area.

What are you waiting for? Go for a drive and get a tan! Come see us at Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman, Oklahoma for all your open-air Jeep needs!
