A Complete Look at the All-New 2018 Jeep Wrangler | Landers CDJR of Norman
If you’ve been keeping up with the hype, then you know the all-new Jeep Wrangler JL was officially unveiled at the LA Auto Show this month. Jeep has been teasing the newest generation of the Wrangler for some time, but now it’s all out in the open and the guessing game is finally over. What we saw from the reveal did not disappoint — but if you missed it, don’t worry. We’re about to give you a complete look at the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Read on for the juicy details!
We’ll start out with the most iconic and consistent aspect of the Wrangler: the exterior. For the most part, the Wrangler has always stayed true to the traditional Jeep brand styling and distinctive silhouette of the Wrangler, dating all the way back to World War II. That’s part of what Jeepers love about the Wrangler, so it comes as no surprise that what you see on the outside didn’t change too much. It still has the classic Wrangler shape, seven-slot grille, round headlamps, square taillamps and removable top and doors. It’s still available in both a two-door and a four-door unlimited model. The look is somewhat modernized, but the differences are subtle.
The biggest changes that were made to the Wrangler’s body are the ones that really count. You might not notice by looking at the new Jeep that it shed close to 200 pounds, but you’ll be able to feel it. If you thought the Wrangler was already as capable as it could be, you’re in for a nice surprise. Your wallet will be able to feel the weight loss too, with fuel efficiency improving significantly. The 2018 Wrangler also has a fold-down windshield that makes it easier to get a little fresh air in your face and a better view of the trail ahead. For the first time ever, it has a power convertible top as well as a 3-piece modular hardtop that is lighter and easier to remove than it was before. Of course, every Jeeper will love the 33-inch all-terrain tires.
Visually, you’ll likely notice the biggest differences inside the cockpit. The Wrangler JL introduces new levels of fit, finish and interior enhancements. So you get some of the more modern conveniences without having to compromise the ruggedly classic style. Nothing was added without a purpose, of course. The updated interior tech can help you keep tabs on your Jeep’s performance so you can go more places and do more things. The latest Uconnect system is featured front and center with a 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen. It will give you driver information, show you what’s behind you while you’re backing up, and blare your music at top volume while you crawl through the rocks like a rockstar. The bucket seats offer adjustable bolsters and lumbar support, so you can take the risks on the trail without risking your back. The cabin also offers options for integrating accessory controls, including those for lights and winches.
Under the hood, the updated V6 engine produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. It can be paired with a standard six-speed automatic manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. The JL also adds an all-new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which puts out 270 horsepower and a whopping 295 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, the 2018 Wrangler JL has an approach angle of 44 degrees and a departure angle of 37 degrees with an 84:1 crawl ratio. It has 10.9 inches of ground clearance, up to 30 inches of fording depth, and it can tow 3,500 pounds.
We’re expecting to see the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL in stores sometime in early 2018, so keep an eye out and stay up-to-date with us at Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Norman, Oklahoma. When the newest Wrangler is finally here, Landers CDJR of Norman will be the place to get it.
